Very nice; has held up extremely well. Probably past its prime but still more than pleasant. Raisin nose and on the palate with enough struture to hold up to food; hints of oak and both red and black fruit on the palate.

Kinda thin, with some good fruit, but it lacks interest. Geographically confused between Marsannay and the Central Coast, which is sort of a compliment, actually. The WSJ was more excited about it than I was. I want to like this more than I do.

Got almost a rhubarb like smell out of it upon first opening and that worked over to a pie cherry like tartness on the nose a little later on. Wine appeared a little cloudy in the glass and there was a bit of the wrong kind of color around the edges as we worked our way through it. Licorice, strawberry (my wife thought prunes even) with a little peppery bite in the mouth. From reading earlier reports, this bottle at least may have seen better days.

Hmmm. A lot more going on here than my beginner's nose & palate can identify, no less describe. Color. Slightly cloudy; plum-colored (a little brownish in the purple). Not unpleasant! Nose. Not "grapey" at all. Berries. Tannic, but only very subtle vanilla notes - that is, weak oak. Body. Follows the notes of the nose, now with a little cocoa. Tart ground berries come to the front. Full mouth feel. Finish. Long and pleasant. More tannins keep it alive on the tongue and the back of the throat.
Delightful!
