At first, clearly inferior to La Louffe, but with time, the gap closed. Dark fruits, smooth, excellent aged Mourvèdre. Cellared since original release.

Dinner at Charles Morgan's flat (Kensington, London, UK): Purple in color, this full bodied wine was still full of tannins yet it had a smooth side to it as well. Some richness but seems very outclassed next to the '81 Beaucastel. 50+11+11+7+7 = 86

(Domaine Tempier Bandol Cuvée Spéciale Cabassaou) Group's #6 (my #8) – 57 pts.; 1, 1, 1, 3 – bright mushroom and truffle nose; light medium bodied, tart, hint of chlorine, but rather one dimensional compared to the rest; medium finish

Blind Tasting 1986-1997 Mourvedres (Rich & Peggy's House, Los Altos, CA): Funky, savory nose of smoked meat and soy. Earthy palate. Can't identify a specific flaw but this wasn't pleasurable in the least. (my 8th, group's 7th)
