Terrific wine. Very dark in the glass. Dark fruits, mostly plum, on the nose along a touch of menthol. Very full and plush in the mouth, with a nice saline note added to the black and blue fruits. Tannins come out nicely on the long finish. First sip got my attention.
Drank this at the Boathouse Meeting Room last night with my wine mates.
Decanted for an hour before consumption. A beautiful boutique on the nose, coupled with plums, dark berries, dark chocolates and lacquer. On the palate the wine is well structured, elegant and well-balanced. Very approachable with a long finish.
Cabin Weekend XVI; 3/4/2016-3/5/2016: Very characteristic of the 2005 vintage for its ultra-ripe red cherry liqueur and raspberry fruit; high juice, low complexity. But fortunately it isn't hot like many 2005s, and though it toes the line of overripeness, it's restrained just enough to make it work. Drink now-2018
