Polished and refined, but is it Volnay? Strikes me as a Burgundy that would appeal to people who dont want any terroir in their glass. Of the wine itself, very deep black fruits, ripe, round palate, soft tannins. This will need time. For sure it is impressive, but it lacks a sense of place.
Very expressive red fruit nose right from the start, which evolved nicely after 2 hours, with hints of spices and tangerine. Very ripe fruit but with good acidity balance. In 2-3 years time this will be awesome.

(Comtes Lafon Volnay) A deeper medium, medium-plus colour. The nose is also deeper, showing more oak and a hint of reduction. Lovely coverage of the tannins and plenty of oak on the palate too, but the finish is pure and fruit-driven. Good wine.
