Becomming more approachable since last try. Tannin and high accid is still dominant as well a dry finnish comming from the wood I believe. Once melted away (when - it is a village wine), I'm sure the fruit is fine already now revealing good CM characters and 2005's ultrafine silky and smokey taste. Not especially long aftertaste. Better at opening than later where it closed up further.
Medium clear garnet. Decanted half an hour. Lovely dark cherry aroma and some earth on the nose. Tastes of concentrated ripe dark cherries, still a bit tannic, with a subtle spicy and dry finish. Has a dark fruit depth that is more on the somber side.
For the first twenty or thirty minutes this is an extremely pretty wine -- and what does one ask from village Chambolle other than it be extremely pretty? -- with pure dark fruits and some crystallinity, plus a light but smooth body that seems to float on the tongue. With further exposure to air, the wine begins to close up, although it is still pleasurable to drink. For top experiences, hold this wine for another five or more years, but it clearly is a top performer for village Chambolle.
