  • Just entering the drinking window and was pretty open after 2hr decant. Lovely black fruit, med + acidity with tannins that are really starting to integrate, is great now but there is some great potential.

  • Jungsik: Decanted a couple of hours before pouring. Wide open nose with black fruit, violets and a meatiness. Palate is less open, but still drinking nicely with black and purple fruits, a touch of iron. The finish is the indicator of the vintage with firm tannins. This is just starting to reach a nice drinking window, much more open than just a couple of years ago, but will need another 8+ years to reach the initial peak plateau.

  • Breathe for unknown time. Slowly opened with scent of violet, cherry and some smoke. The palate showed some mint, nut and smoke. Quite complicated and enjoyable

  • Early dinner gathering (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Youthful nose displaying concentrated rich black fruit, blackberry, black cherry, a hint of sour bois, caramel, roasted nuts, cep, tree bark, dark spices and mineral. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of rich concentrated black fruit, a hint of tannins, bright acidity, earthy mineral, and a long concentrated black fruit driven finish with sous bois and caramel at the end. This is a concentrated wine that can easily improve for another decade.

  • One of the few '05s I've drank that is reasonable to drink now. The nose was incredible, really from opening. Loads of earth, mushroom, hints of tobacco, crushed stone, lovely red and blue fruits, some floral hints. Basically a lovely wine to smell over and over. The palate has tannins that are impressively integrated for a wine from 2005, the depth and pleasure here are certainly top notch. Delicious and plenty of upside. A fantastic wine from Trapet.
