| | Tasted by pasqualini on 4/30/2010: Very masculine style. Strong in tannins and alcohol which creates some body but the fruit lacks subtlety. (1091 views) |

| | Tasted by bin905 on 4/22/2010 & rated 90 points: Garnet red color. Fig, pepper, and cedar scent. Currant, black tea and light mocha flavor with firm tannins. Shows an elegant palate and a solid backbone. (1220 views) |

| | Tasted by vanpe003 on 4/4/2010 & rated 90 points: Notes from Day 2. Medium bodied, with a bright cherry note on the palate. A fair amount of acidity makes this a nice choice for food pairing. I'm interested to see how this evolves...assuming I have any bottles left 3-4 years from now! (1536 views) |
| | Tasted by bg3034 on 4/3/2010 & rated 88 points: Drank over a few hours. Initially, very funky nose - got a strong mushroom scent. Over time, opened up. Still hot - alcohol, with blackberry and vanilla on the nose. Same on the palate, with a hint of spice and prevalent tannins. Short-med finish. After some time in the decanter, this mellowed out and was enjoyable, but still a hefty burn going down. Very nice, but not great, wine. Aloha! (1523 views) |
| | Tasted by fuzzyal42 on 3/30/2010 & rated 89 points: Medium body, with tastes of oak earth. black fruits and a little smoky taste. A slight taste of vanilla with some smoothness and a short finish. (1512 views) |
| | Tasted by CaptBC on 3/27/2010 & rated 90 points: Deep colorwith a dark fruit and pepper nose, smoth with currant and lite smoke. short finish but balanced. improved with about 30 min. Maybe wait another year to open next bottle. (1504 views) |
| | Tasted by vanpe003 on 3/23/2010: No detailed notes. More medium bodied than the '99 Arrowood Reserve that it was along side. I like this quite a bit, Frank did not. At $20, I continue to think this is a very nice QPR. (1559 views) |
| | Tasted by *Vine* on 3/7/2010 & rated 88 points: Popped and poured. Medium-plus garnet. Aromas of earth, decaying leaves, hot asphalt, black currant, and hints of oak...Bordeaux-esque, you could say. Medium body. On the palate, this wine delivers flavors of hay & barnyard (Brettanomyces, no doubt), black fruits, currant, dried herbs, and a touch of smoke. After additional aeration the Brett seemingly subsides and steps aside to let the fruit shine. Medium acidity makes this an ideal companion with dinner. Nice sense of minerals on the moderate close with tannins slightly astringent. Not for those who have a low tolerance threshold for Brett...for others, this will taste like the complex Bordeaux style blend it sets to emulate and should provide ideal drinking over the next 3-5 years (possibly longer). | | Tasted by ewsb on 3/6/2010 & rated 90 points: Can definitely tast the mellowness of the merlot driving thorugh here. I think I would like to try this after a few hours of decanting. The finish is a little short. Initial nose of oakiness and stong cellar with a hint of dampness. (1627 views) |
| | Tasted by bwillia on 3/5/2010 & rated 89 points: Very pleasant daily style drinker. Soft and round. No need to cellar these. (1645 views) |

| | Tasted by Anonymous on 2/27/2010 & rated 91 points: 90-91. Not quite a 91-? Better after a couple hours of air. If I tasted this blind, maybe would have thought Sonoma meritage or Spanish or Loire, maybe S. American meritage. Would have guessed a higer Cab Franc components. Nice raspberry fruit with nice earthy, minerally tobacco and nicely complex. Fills out more with air. Some old world, more new. Beautiful nose and balance. That said, this isn't as good as the Series C, which is more like a ripe bordeaux and probably 2 points better. Very well made, this has another 3-4 years in it. Tannins and juicy adicity appear more with air. (1720 views) |
| | Tasted by annerk on 11/4/2009 & rated 88 points: 50+5+13+15+5 Loads of dark berry, vanilla, spice on nose. Cherry, spice, vanilla, and tobacco with a silky initial mouthfeel. Too much acid as well as a strong tar/kerosene prominant in finish, lessened my overall enjoyment of the wine. (2191 views) |
