Fine nose, hint of leather, burdock root, black peppercorn, dark black cherry/plum fruit, with a milk chocolate overtone and a freshening note of almost citrus chalkiness.
Tight, precise, awesome expression of limestone, tart cherry, salinity and citrus with a modest follow through.
6pm
Fairly aromatic at this point, a bit meaty and fleshy with that burdock root note and sweet plummy fruit laid over stone base notes. Rounding out nicely on entry, then austere and taut through the midpalate with red cherry fruit emerging nicely on the backend. Definitely relaxing in the bottle, and while quite young not unapproachable, will be better in 5 years. Long now.
Day 2: Spicy red fruit, bruised red apple, leather, nuanced sweet, cognac like oak aromas and some dried herbal elements come together on the nose. Definitely richer in the mouth, with more fruit up front but remaining quite reticent. The midpalate reveals this layered limestone, red fruit profile along with fairly firm tannins, though it’s all medium bodied light. Tight on the finish, almost faintly chewy with tannin. A lovely wine, in need of an additional 5 years in the cellar, but it does seem to lack the potential for greatness.

This has become a medium/light-bodied wine. The color is very attractive. You can look through it and read a page that's on the other side of the glass. The nose is reasonably active and very pretty. On the palate, a little bitterness in the first 1/2 hour, then it softens up. After 2 hours the nose was still good but the palate was starting to flatten. Very enjoyable with lamb chops and couscous.

The cork was pristine; popped, poured and consumed over the course of three hours. Medium garnet, with notes of forest floor, mushroom, red fruits, roasted herbs. Medium bodied, savory, with good intensity and depth; tannins have melted away. Long finish.

Random Tuesday night (Tipsy Tuesday?) (Riverpark): Young wine and much more closed than anything. It's earthy, with some pepper, leather. A bit of a quicker finish here as well although didn't seem to open as much in the glass as the DS did. It's heavier than what I expect a Pinot from Burgundy to be - in the same mouthful as the Oregon and the Cali we drank alongside.

Tasted blind with very high drying tannins, high acid, rustic, burly, and a bit four square and clunky with generic red fruits. Guessed village/1er cru Burg.
