Community Tasting Notes (average 93 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 4 notes)

Tasted by tplskylrk on 11/6/2009: W Squared (Vin+ Jakarta): Light strawberry color, nose reticent, but floral. Greenness in there as well, green pepper. Pinot? But not stinky enough. Big tart fruit, balanced, resolved, not deep but lingering, strawberry fruit, raspberries, with a bit of stink on the palate, something like licking the feet of pigs, but in a good way. Bunch of green herbs and a bit of fresh sliced green pepper on the palate as well. Definitely an interesting wine. Simmy’s wine and we got pretty close on this as a Burgundy. (536 views)
Tasted by eliotfagley on 9/10/2008 & rated 95 points: Wow! I took this to a blind $100-bottle tasting, and I was in love. Herbal and earthy on the nose, with sage and mint. The mouthfeel was surprisingly supple. Red fruit and herbs carry the day, especially on the mid-palate, and the wine leaves you with the realization of what perfect structure can do. Beautifully round, with no rough spots. A gorgeously complex pinot that will really speak to Burgundy-lovers. Now I just need to get out there and find a replacement bottle... (910 views)

Tasted by jdunnuck on 12/30/2007 & rated 93 points: Dinner with friends - new years celebration 2007 (Rico's house, Thornton, CO): Compared to the 1999, this seems almost a different wine and shows amazing levels of rich, sappy, young fruit. The nose simply jumps from the glass with sweet cherry, spice, clove and vanilla aromas and with air, this continued to open up and flesh out. Medium bodied in the mouth, this is a structured and seriously tannic wine but shows enough stuffing to the fruit to make it a great drink right now. The finish is awesome and shows pure fruit and plenty of length. (1312 views)

About Red Wines

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Varietal article (Wikipedia)
Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne)
Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

ANNATE
2007 annata di grande interesse anche per i rossi, leggibili ed espressivi come raramente avviene per i Borgogna così giovani.
