Deep peach-rose color with limited tiny bubbles. Peach and orange (fairly delicious and intense) on the nose. Strong notes of apricots, peach, and nectarine dominate with a solid mineral background and acids that are still zinging. Peach pit dominates the finish. This is stellar stuff.

New Orleans Wine and Food Expo 2006; 5/24/2006-5/29/2006 (New Orleans, LA -- Hilton Riverwalk Hotel): Interesting. Very red Burgundian nose of cranberry and strawberry. You don't get the fresh acidity on the nose that one would normally expect from a rose. Until you taste it, you would think it was a red wine. Pale pink salmon color and the tiniest bead of all three champagnes tonight, which provides for an excellent dry texture and mouthfeel. Slightly overwhelming flavors of slightly unripe berry ( raspberry, strawberry, & cranberry ), and even steely, with a hint of sour copper on the finish. Also found it to be a little bit hot on the back end, which I don't see too often in champagne. It was paired with the caviar, but I saved, and preferred, the '98 Dom and the '96 La Grande Dame to drink with the caviar instead, as they made for a much better pairing. This was almost rustic in flavor. Not what I expected, but not horrible. Just not exactly what I like in a champagne. Some people might like it. In fact, several people at my table did think it was nice.

This was poured at a Binny's tasting last week. I liked this much better than either Tanzer or WS who both gave this 88 points; but, then I like the added richness and extra red fruit notes of a Rose' Champagne so this style better matches my palate. Notes of fresh cut strawberries, tangerine and apple. Medium to full bodied. Rich finish. Lovely wine. 92-93 points.

This 1998 lady was fantastic, even after all these years waiting.
Color was a dark rose with medium size bubbles.
On the nose, scent of mild citrus/lemon, my wife picked up some floral also. After 90 minutes we picked up some notes of honey.
On the palate, it was dry on the edge of very dry. A great combination of the dry palate with the citrus/lemon/honey nose.
If you have a bottle of the 1998 I wouldn't keep it too much longer.
