So once again a couple of bottles tried at different times but within the week. The first decanted for about 4 hours and disappointing. Give it a generous 92 points but improving steadily as it was drunk over several hours. The second bottle decanted just an hour was superb straight out of the traps as it were. It never lasted that long but scored at least 96. A wonderful bottle that made me wish for more and in a way regret all those drunk earlier over the years.
In the bouquet dark forest fruits, blood, chocolate, steel and sweet spices. On the palate dark berries, vanilla, sweet spices, good acidity and slightly drying tannin. Certainly a very good wine in a good drinking stage now. We tasted the wine blind and then, after it was revealed, we were a bit disappointed. We expected more of La Mission…
Intersting nose with black currant, plum, tobacco, truffle, smoke.A bit disappointing on the palate, lacking fruit, intensity and depth and still with noticeable tannins. To be honest I expected much more from this bottle.Perhaps not the best example.
