This wine was still giving with fruit, yet smooth on the tannins... Beautiful color and all around very impressive for an '04 for RRV, Lynmar is one of the most underrated wines out there... This pinot could go against the big boys just about any time...

Opened this one up after setting aside a corked '05 vintage from the same vineyard(s).
Nose: Notes of tar and coal dominate upon opening. Given a little time to open up in the glass, the wine exhibits dark cherry with a layer of charcoal underneath. Color: wine tending towards dark brick overall, but no visual evidence of being over the hill. Taste: Needs some air (decant or use a Vinturi or other device) to bring out the dark fruit - otherwise, more like bing than dark cherry. Reasonably well-balanced and somewhat delicate, but a disappointingly short finish.
Perhaps a higher rating would be considered if consumed a bit younger.... (past?) time to drink the rest. At this point, I consider it a follow-up bottle (open up something a bit more promising for the first 1-2 bottles)

This bottle is definitely not "finished". The bouquet remains fresh and fruity. On the palate the wine shows age, it is evolving, but it remains a classy and complex Pinot. This is my last bottle but we certainly enjoyed it!

(Lynmar Estate Pinot Noir Russian River Valley) very intriguing, earthy, sous bois nose; delicious, Burgundian, with good acid and balance, light medium body with grip; medium-plus finish with hints of brown sugar (should age very well)

Holding up nicely. Plenty of dark cherry fruit, with some earth and a good acid backbone.
