Showing more youthfully than the 02 Chaignots with more structure and power. Shows the vintage and vineyard quite well. I slightly preferred this to the Chaignots tonight. Lots of potential here just needs another 7-10 years. Excellent. 92+
PnP - This was killer and only slightly overshadowed by a near perfectly aged '90 Beaucastel tonight. And only, because this is just a smidge more primary then the '90 Beaucastel. That said, this was a dream Burg with great finesse, lovely fruit and depth. The texture was sublime. The nose was so vibrant and so fresh. Only missing component is some forest floor on the nose which should emerge with time. This was drinking very very well! Drink or hold.
A 99 finally entering it's maturity phase, even though the wine remains clearly fruit friven and is by no means old. Dark red, dense the nose is very interesting with red fruits (fraise des bois) dominating and a dsitinct barnyard touch which is borderline but contributes to the wine's aromatic complexity. In the mouth the red fruits are still present, but there is also a very distinct and characeristic wild game/blood/animal components that gives plenty of character to the wine. Very good balance, the fruit is a tad sweet but the tannins are abundant and quite polished, so no rusticity for me there (but who says I am refined..?). Long length, a really good Premier Cru.
