So young looking. Deep ruby color, almost opaque. The nose is intense, with dark fruit, olives, smoked meats. Full body, very backward and rustic. This is a wine to have with food, to balance its power. Great length.

Burch's BBQ Bonanza (Smokestak): Such a treat to be able to taste Allemand...however this bottle was just a little too on the spiky, funky side for me. Didn't taste anything like its 23 years old - searing acidity and high toned fruits screeching through the middle.

"Good bottles" (67 Pall Mall): Wow - even among a strong line-up, this wine was mesmerising, and its perfume has stayed with me for the few days since I drank it. There was always something about Cornas that made me want to persist with it, just as I did with stinky cheese and Islay whisky, and this bottle vindicated that. Blackcurrant, blueberry, throat pastilles, herbs and violets were some of the components of the nose, but really this should just be described as seamless and seductive. Wonderfully medium-bodied and balanced, drinking the wine was like being politely but insistently gripped by the archetypal velvet glove. Superb!

(Allemand Cornas "Chailot") Upon opening the nose was the essence of concentrated Syrah fruit. Dark evil black berries along with macerated black cherries. This was black as night in color and really reminded me of fresh blood which all good Syrah should. There were also aromas of dark flowers, some barnyard and intense minerals. The palate was concentrated as concentrated can be with huge tannins. Refined tannins though. As the evening progressed the wine opened up and it became a touch more civilized. It is amazing for a wine this big to have this much refinement and class. The nose was on point all night and was as I said earlier the essence of Syrah grown in Cornas. Black olive aromas developed which only added to the dazzling nose.
(Thierry Allemand Cornas Chaillot) Awesome sauvage ripe kick-ass Syrah! This was way not ready but alot of fun to drink. Nose of mint, barnyard, blood, dark boysenberries, blackberries, black cherries. Very precise and aromatic. Sappy and silky on the palate with fat glycerin and some major delineation. Just kinda of dissolves after around a minute. This is gonna rock in around 10 years but it was nice getting a sneak peak today

Probably needed to be drunk a year or two ago. Still very nice.
