"Dessert" Wine Tasting (Prior Lake, MN): And the continued decline in my scores of this wine continues. I think it's more that I no longer have a taste for such overtly sweet wines, and not a general decline in the wine itself. This is rich, thick, and just plain sweet.
Drank after Thanksgiving dinner with a pumpkin roll - a meh pairing. I'm not sure if this wine is in decline or my palate is just changing, but I wasn't as excited with this as I was before. It was still sweet but with almost enough acidity to balance it out, but it lacked a great deal of complexity.
Drank over dessert with apple dumplings. A well-made wine with an aroma and color which makes you think aged Sauternes but a much lighter body. Unfortunately this light body does make this wine seem a bit out of balance and too sweet over time. This is a wine which is great for a glass but then becomes a bit tedious, so share with friends!
