Fully mature nose displaying ripe dry yellow fruit, dry apricot and peach, strong lanoline, light caramel and sweet spices. There is a hint of oxidation. Excellent concentration, nicely layered slightly dry yellow fruit, mouth puckering acidity, strong mineral, and a medium to long ripe yellow fruit driven finish with lanoline at the end. A bit past its prime but still enjoyable. If you are a buyer, make sure the color is not too dark.

A reminder that storage is everything. Acquired from a high quality cellar in the early 80's, and has pretty much sat unmoved in a refrigerated cellar at a temperature of 47 degrees, ocassionally rising to as high as 52 since. All the cigar box, cedar, tobacco you could want in a Haut Brion with immense length. Stunningly aromatic. A show stopper. More than a few cellar tracker notes say over the hill, oxidized, whatever - suspect storage of course. No rush to drink up this bottle. It had plenty of life ahead.
