2hr decant was about right. I've never been sure about this wine, but it has clearly improved and will probably be slightly better in a couple more years. Dark and concentrated, aromatic with characteristic black olive and bayleaf notes and an earthy/dusty taste. Slightly rustic and for me lacks the balance of say a Yarra Yering #1. Drink 2014-2020.

This had a residue around the bottle neck from when I pulled the cork which was black. The wine also has a dark core with a blackcurrant red around the edge. It has a big nose with liquorice, violets, hints of blackberry and the slightest cedar - quite feminine. Palate is tighter and more restrained with blackcurrant and the balance delivers a lovely freshness. Long finish.
