Excellent Clare Valley red, with 2 gold medals. Colour: blackberry, with very little browning at edges Bouquet: intense black cherries and black currants, light spice and vanilla Palate: sweet fruit up front as per bouquet, full bodied, big soft fine grained tannins, very dry and long clean finish. Classic Clare. An iron fist in a velvet glove. May 2014

Crumbly cork. Good colour - deep red some bricking. Some bottle stink which blew off almost immediately to reveal a nose of dried flowers and black cherry. On the palate black plum and dark cherry with aniseed and dark chocolate with a hint of orange peel. Lovely balance - there is some tangy acid still there that keeps this well and truly alive. The fruit is there and singing, but I am not sure the tannin remains to keep it much longer.
