Decanted for two hours prior to service; wasn't even remotely enough time, to my surprise. In the glass, a very dark, clear, purple tinted red. On the nose, a mix of grenache liqueur and port-like reductive secondary notes. On the palate, raspberries, a touch of wood and a faint hint of cedar, overtaken almost immediately by a wall of tannins. There is still plenty of fruit here, but I can't imagine how long it will take for this to resolve; this tastes very young, not at all like a 10 year old wine.
50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 10 + Smaak / Afdronk: 17 + Algemeen / potentieel: 9 = 91/100
Color: Deep ruby red, no trace of discoloration Aroma / bouquet: Interestingly, half closed bouquet. A remnant of dark fruit, tea leaves, autumn forest Taste / Finish:. Not convincing in the nose, but completely convincing in the mouth. Mouth filling, enough fresh acidity, powerful tannins. Wonderful balance. Finish: Impressive long. General / potential: Absolute top wine when it comes to price / performance ratio (purchase <€ 13) / Impressive wine in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 ... I fear the potential of this wine is greater than my patience. 50 + Color: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 10 + Taste / Finish: 17 + General / potential: 9 = 91/100
decanted 1,5 hrs. First sip, flat....bad bottle? Think so... After 2,5+ hrs in the decanter the wine became vivid. It's alive and still kcking. Typical Montsant/Priorat Garnacha.. Liked it much. Steady consistent wine. Will look for more recent vintages.
