Needed some time to open up, but with time revealed a nicely balanced and correct mature left bank bordeaux. Dusty, earthy and gravelly minerality, cedar and tobacco. Some smoke, truffles perhaps. With time some green herbal notes as well. Sightly drying tannins in the finish, but overall very good.
Keith's Birthday Dinner (Kai Zan - Chicago, IL): Started off beautifully...dark fruits, lots of stoney, and smokey fruit. I left dinner on the early side, but it sounded like this broke down pretty quickly. It was really nice when I drank it...shame it broke down.

(Chateau Montrose St-Estèphe) A darker, treacle coloured wine. Black fruit on the nose, with a touch of rubber and marked, gravelly undertones. This wine is very different - probably the St-Estèphe. A slim, elegant, black fruit palate. Peppery notes, good balance, altogether a lovely wine.
