  • Overall nice and rather typical, fruits are modern and giving. Finish could have been longer. Not as good as (surprisingly) '83 I have had before.

  • “G8 summit – A journey on the Duero-Douro-River” (blind), Wine 5: The wine was medium ruby in colour and offered red fruit, spices and clove on the nose. On the palate the medium-bodied wine was balanced, with red fruit flavours, medium-plus acidity and good length. The sweetish red fruit + American oak combination shouted “Rioja” from the glass. Solid. Holding up well.

  • Still a tight package, strong aromatics, mocha, will still get better, no hurry to drink.

  • No rating possible. High expectations of course from this bottle. But it turned out to be a huge disappointment. I opened the bottle, smelled it's bouquet, everything seemed wonderful at first. I decanted the wine 10-15 minutes. Then the wine totally disintegrated, the bouquet became extremely pungent and harsh.... The mouth was a real disaster, a taste of bad sherry or port instead of Rioja. Most probably a bad bottle.

  • This one was released a while ago from the winery. I managed to get six bottles, but after enjoying it twice in the last few months, I wish I could get cases more. Trying to hold on to the other four is going to be a hard task.

Ruby red with clear fading around the rim. Elegant and very pleasant aromas of spices combined with wild fruits. Might be hard to categorize as traditional Rioja aromas, but still lovely and inviting. Full body, loaded with interesting and different flavors of tobacco, cherries, gooseberries and spices. Incredibly slick balance and structure, including lovely acidity (truly!), very slight toasted oak and soft integrated tannins. Feels great, and easy to enjoy. Nice long finish. Overall a wonderful and delightful wine, that though is not completely your typical Rioja, is unique and loaded with personality. Mature and ready, but will last much longer. (Retasted: 11/06/04)
