Surprisingly resistant to air. Complexity, aroma and thickness all decreased, but the essence of Pomerol is there, magnified due to the disappearance of other elements by aging. A great experience of 1961.

Served blind at our BYOB Daniel Game Dinner and it was a perfect bottle showing this incredible liquid graphite flavor and texture along with notes of mint and sweet cedar. So soft and silky with an incredible finish of smoky minerals and earthy spices. The purity and flavor profile of this wine made me weak in the knees.

1961 Bordeaux tasting (Wine Watch, Fort Lauderdale, Florida): Started out a bit funky, but opened up and leveled off with time. On the nose, there was plum, cassis, cedar, licorice, toast, and chocolate. Lush and elegant on the palate. A truly enjoyable wine with gained weight in the glass. A seamless finish full of lots of plummy fruit. Really impressive overall. Will not enjoy the same longevity of the Latour or La Mission, but it is drinking extremely well now.

Soaring aromatics on this bottle. Closer to peak maturity than others I have had. Silky mouthfeel. Fantastic.

Rich deep red fruit, eucalyptus and cedar notes. Smooth and suave and not yet at its apogee.
