PnP it's all cassis and dust. It became a bit more closed for a bit before opening into a nice, smooth, mature Napa Cabernet. Don't know if there's any more upside on aging, but doesn't seem like it's on the downswing.
Deep crimson. Herbal and gamey nose. Little trace of fruit. First notes are astringent and tannic. Surprisingly harsh and angular. Not well integrated, especially for a 28 year old wine. Unbalanced, a bit tart and simple. Would have hoped for more and definitely not the wine that they wanted to make for the 50th vintage of GDL.
Just a lovely, authentic Napa cabernet. Beautiful combination of red fruits, earthy tones, rose tones, and cedar. Palate drank really nicely - the tannins were nicely integrated, and there was still a nice concentration to the palate.
An excessibe [sic] balla [sic] afternoon at Domaine (Chicago, IL): From magnum. Wow, holy spot-on Napa cabernet, Batman! Seriously, everything was in its place here. A mix of ripe currants and plums and a slight hint of menthol on the nose, followed by a palate that was so perfectly balanced between the sweet fruit, acidity, and tannic structure. Likely not improving anymore, this is drinking fantastically right now. Enjoy it while it lasts.
