Pretty fantastic overall. Still fairly medium-red; a little browning, but not much. Aromatics start with a leathery component. That blows off and a certain earthiness/sauvage element emerges. Palate undergoes a similarly interesting transformation -- from somewhat stewed fruit to sweet, ripe (and earthy) fruit. Fascinating. Never ethereal -- this is a fairly big wine -- but really interesting and, again, pretty fantastic.
Tasted two Red Burgundy with Mike at Yan's China Bistro tied score. The nose on this wine was closed the entire evening, medicinal, dark cherry fruit and a touch of barnyard, more of the same on the palate, mouth coating and sweeter than its peer tonight, medium body, and a long finish.
