The 1997 Renato Ratti Barolo Marcenasco may be nearing it's end soon but right now it is gorgeous and still kicking strong. It shows a classic brick-like nebbiolo color and notes of dried plum, raspberry, porcini, earth, tobacco and smoke with wonderful structure and balance of fruit and acidity. This is in its prime right now and should be best until around 2016. -JD
