  • It had been a while since I drank a Niagara wine. This Baco is the flagship win of Henry. Drank this one in 2011. Well aged, round, mature. Some pepper and lots of strawberry. Actually made think of a Chianti. I loved it very much.

  • This wine is a borderline 'avoid'. Maybe to get a historical perspective one should try it once. A better way to go is probably the reserve version, which costs about $25. You may get the historical perspective without the stomach ache. I didn't try it, but it should be better from what I have read. Definitelly rustic and different. Maybe an aquired taste for some. After opening, the oak is quite noticeable, but it gets a little better with a couple of hours of decanting. Quite acidic, but clean, perhaps some more bottle ageing would help mellow it down some. Its 'less than noble' origins are quite apparent. At $14 in Ontario it's not a good QPR, perhaps something that one could try as a curiosity.
