A young Lalande, sporting a deep purple dark profile. With two hours of bottle breathe and another half an hour in the glass, fresh, gentle aromatics of black cherry, pencil shavings, licorice, crushed tobacco leaf and hint of mint and green olive wake up your senses. The 06 Lalande has a great deal of good life in front of her, another 5-10 years of cellaring will certainly make it fuller and more complex. At the current stage, a good long breathing time could do, the medium plus texture, dark fruit concentrated nature and impeccable balance will surely please you with all the positives.
Approachable young as Pichon often is, this is a very nicely made wine that has a great balance between fruit and tannin. The first 2006 we have opened, this shows promise as a good interim while awaiting other vintages to come on line. Luscious.
2006 pichon Lalande Color: dark purple/red Nose: crushed rocks, ripe black currants, pure pauillac, big & one dimensional at the moment Palate: lovely balance, full bodied, plump, voluptuous, shows it's class & pedigree, long finish, still a baby, still has considerable tannins so give it a lengthy decant & best with a hearty meal, best to open in say 3-5 years & will last for a long time

(Chateau Pichon-Lalande (Pauillac)) Dense and quite rich crimson. Bright and expressive in the nose, a hot and dense concentration of flavour to it, suggestions of roasted fruits. The palate has a very welcome substance, a sweet and concentrated core of polished but warm and comely fruit at the core, around that an elegant drapery of texture with a lightly gritty substance, with a well-formed tannic backbone and fine acidity. The nose really is enticing. A really strong effort from Pichon-Lalande with all the polish you would expect from such an estate. Very impressive.
(Chateau Pichon-Lalande Pauillac) A reserved, subtle, well judged nose, although with a wealth of fruit hiding within. Plums, blackberries and more to be found here. Very elegant, supple, well composed, with a creamy texture. The tannins build through the palate although it maintains its elegant composition. Lovely forest fruit flavours. An elegant wine.
