Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 87.8 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 18 notes)

Tasted by DanSm on 3/6/2008 & rated 89 points: Compared with some other Chardonnay from RRV, this one is excellent. Complex and balanced. Wonderful! (654 views)
 Tasted by DanSm on 2/9/2008 & rated 87 points: Excellent1 (746 views)
Tasted by DanSm on 2/9/2008 & rated 86 points: Excellent! (741 views)
Tasted by DanSm on 1/26/2008 & rated 84 points: A slight funk on the nose. Tropical notes with ginger ale on the finish. (753 views)
Tasted by drdebs on 12/28/2007 & rated 90 points: Very well balanced California chardonnay. Nice mix of oak and fruit, with buttery richness underneath. If you don't like buttery chardonnays you won't like this, but if you did this is a fantastic deal on a great wine. Will seek out similar, later lots. (855 views)
Tasted by DanSm on 11/13/2007 & rated 84 points: Ginger ale on the finish....

This is a nice Chard. (983 views)
Tasted by WNissen on 9/26/2007: Overwhelmed by oak that goes beyond clumsy. Alcohol covers up any of the tropical flavors that seem to be lurking beneath. Not my style at all. Poor. (1063 views)
Tasted by dmatley on 7/30/2007 & rated 92 points: The best this bottle has tasted so far. Rich, opulent, buttery. Fantastic qpr. Glad to have a few more left. (1121 views)
Tasted by DeWiPe on 7/27/2007 & rated 88 points: (833 views)
Tasted by Zoeldar on 6/11/2007 & rated 88 points: Confirm all previous notes (thanks- great notes btw). Surely a Rombauer-fashioned imitator, a great summer sipper...for $10, load up, as nothing compares in this price range. A fun mouthful of Chard...this winery continues to impress time & again. QPR of mid-90's. (1182 views)
Tasted by dmatley on 6/3/2007 & rated 90 points: Double decanted and drank over 3 hours. Nice deep gold in the glass. More opulent than the last bottle. I think the air helped a lot. Nice tropical and butterscotch notes. Impressive finish. Nothing to complain about here. (1185 views)
Tasted by plitton on 5/26/2007 & rated 87 points: Heavy honey and oak, with a rich palate of tangerine and melon. A great $13 value. (1351 views)
Tasted by wordstar on 5/25/2007 & rated 88 points: Very distinctive bouquet when first uncorked which developed into a mellow, fruity aroma. The taste was tightly bound at first, but opened up nicely into a balanced, mildly oakey finish. Went well with a light meal. (1314 views)
Tasted by skatman on 5/25/2007 & rated 90 points: Nice, smooth Chard with citrus aroma, butterscotch, balanced acidity. Yes, Rombauer on the cheap! Gotta get more if there's any left at Costco. (1307 views)
Tasted by Steam67 on 5/22/2007: This bottle delivers as advertised with tropical fruits, butterscotch notes, and nice acidity throughout. My only caveat: make sure it gets some air. Right out of the gate, the mid palate fell apart and sort of limped into a weakly acidic finish, but after being open a day, this bottle had filled in remarkably with the notes found in the attack carrying through to a lengthy finish with bolder and fuller acidity. A great value. (1366 views)
Tasted by muellerkim on 5/19/2007 & rated 91 points: Rich and lush, this Chardonnay truly is a dead ringer for Rombauer. Pineapple and mango come through along with a kiss of vanilla oak followed by butterscotch on the finish. Truly amazing, especially at this price! (1458 views)
Tasted by Zinister on 5/11/2007 & rated 86 points: Very light in color...visually like a sauvignon blanc. Nose of soft vanilla, oak and butterscotch. Taste is upfront mango, vanilla and light butterscotch, but very crisp. Somewhat acidic, but not overwhelming. Crisp and light for chard, but in a nice way. Don't think it would stand up to food that well unless it was a gourmet salad or appitizers, but is well suited as a starter wine or for drinking on the patio during a warm breezy evening.  Tasted by DanSm on 4/28/2007 & rated 84 points: Light straw color, floral and spicy nose, a bit high on acid so best with food rather than for enjoying by itself. (1532 views)

California Wines (Wine Institute of California)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
