  • Pop & pour, now it's been open for 2 hours.

The scent is rather neutral. In taste it's classical Bordeaux but neither very layered nor very intensive. It's like a decent Bordeaux with 30% added water - save for the tannins which are still quite massive and even drying.

For now, I'd say this is perfectly drinkable and there's even a bit of joy but it must have been going down for a few years now.

So objectively acceptable, but at the price of 33 EUR this is horrible, horrible QPR. This is 10-12 EUR quality at this stage.

  • Purchased at the gift shop in Bages, this Cru Bourgeois is part of the Lynch Bages portfolio. Pardon the abrupt notes, but it is being drunk at our Parisian Air-bnb in glasses that are not optimal. Medium garnet colored , nose of blackberry, cassis, tobacco, cedar box, classic aged Bordeaux. Delicious with medium acidity and medium tannins that are well integrated with a medium body. Slightly tart on the back end with black fruit puree and cassis. Secondary and tertiary flavors of tobacco, cedar lined drawers, smoke and espresso. Long finish with tart dark fruit- 91 points. For around $43, you too can taste this delicious and mature wine. 4 stars.

  • Wasn’t expecting much from this, but pleasantly surprised - fruit in the background but there’s nice tannin, great mouthfeel and classic middle aged claret here. Great QPR.

  • Decent St Estephe, opens up after an hour or two, but lacks the depth and fruit I’d expect

(Château Ormes de Pez) Reticent cassis and green herb nose; tasty tart cassis and tart plum palate, light-medium bodied; medium finish
