upon opening, the nose in the bottle reminded me of band-aid, a very medicinal smell. This indicates brett, a wine disease. The smell dissipated, but the wine still didn't resemble a decent 10-year old Bordeaux. The finish was not pleasing. The overall sensation was of a very dry wine with no redeeming qualities. I decanted it and drank it the next day with steak. There was some improvement, but not enough to give it a score. I opened a $7 bottle of Spanish red, Laya, and the Spanish was better.

A very obvious Bordeaux nose; really savoury - some mixed bramble fruit but deeply savoury with mushroom notes; some cloves and black pepper. Soft and mellow taste - drinking well but probably about to turn. A blue cheese note, which has always been characteristic of Greysac. Still some tannin but not much fruit left. A little spiciness initially gives way to a sour cherry finish. Good to have kept it until now.

Where to start? Always be wary of £10 claret. Especially if it has a label with a chateau and/or ornate gate. Miserably average. This is the 4th of 6 bottles over the last couple of years. No improvement. If this was not a bordeaux they would struggle to charge half as much. No structure, no fruit, no richness. Please, for the love of god, avoid.

Drinkable but not very enjoyable. The 2008 was better.
