I really like Brian Loring, and I frequently enjoy his wines, but I was not a fan of this one. The earthy fruit just seemed really tired and washed out. I thought that maybe it was due to its age, but then I came across my first review of this wine. Even then, back in 2008, my note indicates that the fruit was "muted." So maybe 2006 was not a good year for Shea fruit.
A bit of "WTF" for me, in a good way. Previous btls of this have been ugly....alcoholic heat....a mess. This bottle, while not life changing, is very, very pleasant. Medium heavy in body, but balanced. Downside is it's a bit one dimensional, but that one dimension is pretty good. Need to go back and try to figure out if these were sourced from different providers. Update: all btls sourced from the winery. Can't expalin the btl variation.
