  • Decanted this for about an hour before dinner and in retrospect, maybe another hour or 2 would have been ideal. Given the vintage, the wine is ready but benefits from air. Tannins are soft and fruit is pretty expressive. I probably come out more in the 93 range but could envision a higher score with a longer decant and sharing the wine with fewer people (we were 2 drinkers and our wives were tasting and eventually drinking) so as to have more time with the wine. Given current Trotanoy prices for “good” vintages, this is a real value.

  • Allow me to write a few words: Vibrant. Energetic. Extravagance. Flamboyant. Candies sweet. Adolescent. A first growth quality in my view! A long life ahead! Translucent deep ruby colour! Those sweet, ripe cherry fruits.... simply unforgettable! A marvellous drink.

  • Opened up to its fullest expression after a two hour decant. Some bitterness surrounding the milk-chocolate-and-dark-cherry centre, which is like a fruit holograph in the background, slowly fading, giving way to clay-derived and leathery secondary and tertiary terroir elements. Wonderfully polished tannins, and elegant mouthfeel keeps you coming back for more. Just wish it was more rounded and less bitter.

  • Shared with a good wine friend. Non blind, notes copied below.

"Initially showed a gorgeous blueberry compote and over time developed a raspberry and leathery earthy note. Gorgeous medium body with lovely tannic grip and a touch of acidity. Finish shows some gorgeous structure, fresh raspberries, chalky mineral earth. 95-96 on this. Just incredible. "

Over time some of the fat shed and the aged character showed more. Just a gorgeous bottle, very lucky to have tried this.
