  • Double decanted and drank with a ribeye. There is still some tannins in the wine after 17 years, but the fruit was delicious and the finish was long and very pleasant. Still has life in it and has definitely improved with age.

  • Dense (almost chewy) with significant fruit. Very rich given the age. Paired with Filet Mignon. Overall, was pleasant enough with a meal, but I prefer a more elegant, balanced and integrated style of wine. If I had another bottle, I would give it in another year or two of cellar time.

  • Thanksgiving 2015: Dark color. Nose of black cherry marmalade, chocolate and ripe currant (very sexy!). Quite full bodied but not over the top, sweet, smooth tannins and very good structure. Now in a perfect drinking window. Drink now as I do not expect more joy to come with additional cellaring.

  • Very good. Decanted at a restaurant as soon as we sat down, but this was still surprisingly tight even after an hour in the decanter...so this wine can still be cellared for a while. In fact, it was still evolving after 2 hours in the decanter when we finally had to finish it and leave (they were closing!). Initially too "hot" upon first pour from the decanter, it started to open up after 1 hour, and was becoming quite enticing by hour 2. Would recommend 3 hour decant, minimum. Nose was eventually comprised of blackberry, sweet tobacco leaf, and a hint of dried flowers. Ripe red and black fruit on the attack, with just a hint of slightly tart chocolate covered cranberry on the mid-palate. Moderate to long finish, with a touch of Café au Chocolat as it lingered. After 2 hours, there was a noticeable bouquet of blueberries added to the mix. Glad I have another bottle. Highly recommended.

  • 3 hour decant. Very good. This is probably at peak now.....I just can't see it getting any better than it already is.
