  • Thick dark ruby in color with a nose of dark red fruit and raisin. Big black cherry and blackberry fruit with some cola, cassis and black licorice. This fruit is undifferentiated and not subtle. It is showing more tannin than would be a good balance. Great fruit, but awfully big for a pinot. Tempting. Perhaps another couple of years?

  • This is a HUGE Pinot....and I was not impressed by that fact. When I stuck my nose in the glass I would never have thought Pinot Noir...maybe Syrah.
On the nose it's loaaaaaaded with Oak, Vanilla, Blackberry, Blueberry, Casis, Brown Sugar, and an overwhelming caramel aspect that comes from over-oaking the wine (IMHO). In the mouth it was too heavy. I turned the bottle around to face me and wasn't surprised to learn that this was 14.6% but it was brough by my dinner guest and I was a gracious host for the thought. This wasn't a cheap bottle either....$43 retail. Simply not worth the money in my book.
