Strong nose of smokiness that fades to black pepper, cinnamon, baking spice, and ripe black fruit that emanates from the glasss. On the palate, ripe blue fruit come forward first and fades to sour cherry. This is a big wine with high alcohol that is well integrated and with good acidity to hold everything together.

This wine has become quite mature, and lacked the spiciness that has bothered others. I found the high alcohol and fruit-forward characteristics a bit off-putting, overwhelming any complexity that might have balanced things out.

-- popped and poured -- -- tasted non-blind over two days --
NOSE: rustic bouquet with lots of white pepper, sweet red fruits (raspberry and boysenberry), and a secondary hint of chalky spearmint.
BODY: garnet color of medium-deep depth with very slight bricking throughout; lots of fine particulate matter suspended in the wine makes it somewhat opaque; medium bodied.
TASTE: very peppery with moderate oak; a bit alcoholic-tasting (15.4%); acid and tannin are well-proportioned, but are completely disjointed right now (incredibly acidic and tannic); went much better with pizza than on its own; dull front palate; short finish (20-25 sec.).
B: 50, 5, 12, 14, 6 = 87

PnP in a wine bar, dark red fruit profile, some white pepper...get a good deal of spiciness on the finish...Medium to full bodied... very good effort

Like many Turleys...spicy, smooth, and delicious. This one disappointed me a bit with some vegetal flavors, namely celery.
