Excellent och över förväntan. Ingen fruktchock, snarare balanserat, snyggt och hög syra. Mognadstoner, cigarrer och obligatorisk fat och frukt. Utmärkt.

Still a little youthful but with a little decant it is drinking very well. A brawny St Emillion with dark fruits, nice structure, notes of mocha, graphite, minerals, slate. I love the complexity but would like a little more elegance and perhaps with a little more time it would come but alas this was my last bottle.

Dark, nearly opaque purple. Extracted, more new world than bordeaux, but seems to have more structure than the last bottle while remaining very polished and smooth. Chocolate, creamy oak, etc, but not much leather/earth/tobacco.

Not a powerful wine but really elegant and supple on the palette, soft blue fruit nicely laced with minerals. Smooth tannins on the back, but doesn't seem structured enough to be a long-term cellaring candidate. It certainly has a degree of sophistication though and I hope my remaining bottle evolve nicely.

Still up on the cote. Named for the starfish fossils you would find in the limestone. 70% merlot, 30% cab franc. The vines all date pre-1956 though. Here much more depth of flavor and power to the wine than the la carre. More structure, more intense, and more complexity of flavor. Maybe more masculine to La Carre's femine? At $175 its up there. Great structure and power. Much more intensely powerful than Les Asteries.
