The nose on this was initially great - dark fruit, nice vibrancy. But, on the palate, the fruit fell short. It was better with the steak we had, but the glass after dinner was far more thin and drying out. Good, not great, with food, not recommended alone.

St. Émilion Grand Cru: 60% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Franc, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark cherry nose. Thin blackberry palate with a little bit of earth in the background. Strong tannins. Medium length finish. Respectable for the price, but slightly underwhelming given the pedigree

Purple: 60 Merlot, 33 CF and the rest CS...The CF comes through in the nose, but not in an unsavory way...Great palate grip and a juiciness that I wasn't expecting...a touch of chocolate covered cherry...

Nothing special here, but a decent Grand Cru for the price of $15 at Whole Foods. Dark fruits, tart cherry and chalky notes, with a decent finish and strong tannins...makes me think it could age well over the next few years, but not much past that. I think I'll buy a couple more bottles and let them sit for a while.
