2006 Gaisberg and Heiligenstein Riesling (Vin Vino, Palo Alto): Intense, high toned florality; it smells more like a Viognier or Gewurztraminer than Riesling. Big, rich wine with curious grapefruit tones and bitter citrus rind notes at the end. I had a hard time getting past the nose on this one and found the wine to have the poorest balance of the bunch. Alas, this was also the most expensive wine.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #026; Austria: White wines. (By AW): This wine is what the Germans call spritzig: tickling in the start/on the top of the tongue. This can be because the wine is still too young, or when the style of the wine is like that. In this case I cannot say which. Further the wine is soft, round, ripe and (tropical)fruity with a hint of sweetness and also minerals. Good wine with a good concentration.
