This is a real mixed bag. I drank it over two nights and it was definitely better on the first night. It showed some classic rustic Rioja nose with wood, cherry and herbs. The palate is biggest in the middle with a candied quality that really keeps this from coming together though it wasn't over done. On night two the finish seems more cleft with that candied quality mixing in with light tannin. This doesn't seem to be able to decide whether it wants to go old school or new and ends up being lost instead of in between. That said it was OK on the first night and was probably better closer to release.

Not liking this as much as others. Way to pricey for what i'm drinking. Maybe this is "past it". Let this sit in glass for an hour - nose is a little funky and has some green peppers. Light bodied and tannins, minimal fruit. Medium finish with some woodsy oak. Maybe this is classic Rioja, but not enjoying it. Not worth 30$ CAN Maybe better with full on BBQ fair.

Thoroughly enjoyed this Rioja. Deep ripe cherry notes, velvet tannins, balanced acidity, and a bit of mocha on the finish. Excellent.
