Still predominantly purple, but just starting to show a hint of colour change.
Somewhat lifted nose, leading with black fruits with a hint of black olive.
On the palate, there is surprising structure, with fresh acidity and still quite grippy tannins. The fruit presumbly would have been brighter in youth, for at the moment this is a wine that's as much about the structure as the flavour, there being little aged complexity creeping in. Deceptively appealing to drink, yet not particularly exciting.

Second time was a totally different experience. Wine has put on some age, complexity and has developed into a nice extracted d'alba. Love the cherry up front followed by nice well integrated tannins and fine acidity. Went great with Pasta and even finished up on night two with Salmon, believe it or not. Have one left. Wont wait 2 years for this one

Need to decant or tannin is fairly obvious. Either my bottle is off or my taste buds but the acidity is much less than i expected compare to some barbera i consumed recently. nonetheless, a pleasent wine with meat dish and chesse, less so with my pizza/tomato sauce pasta.
