Del Dotto Barrels & Beasts 2016 (Del Dotto Winery): Very notable depth of flavor. Just a nice hit of cedar and spice to add to the red and black berry notes. The wine was indeed "good," but what really elevated this was the food it was paired with. Very well done in that regard!
Served with Toasted Flour Ramini Buffalo Milk Tortellini; runner beans, veal sweetbreads, caciocavallo. The best dish/pairing of the night!

Age wise this bottle is in its sweet spot. Plums, cedar and dusty tannins. Not as big as I remember it at the winery (or for that fact a later vintage I tasted at the winery last year). The acidity of the sangiovase is still prevelant.

My bottle may have been a bit oxidized, but after a little while it improved a bit. Good wine for the $23 I paid for it, but not the $50 list price. Very light, not many Italian Sangiovese-like. Don't know what else is in this blend, but it tasted more like a Merlot.

Plum and a spritz on the nose. Strong acidity, with a backbone but only a modicum of fruit. A well made wine but not exciting.

Lighter body with a weak finish, which is not the way I remember when tasting the wine at Del Dotto. It was somewhat disappointing!
