  • Shoe polish and tomato leaf present in pretty good intensity on the nose. Great richness and smoothness on the palette, almost thick, like the consistency of milk (obviously it isn’t, but feels that way). With time in the glass some red berry fruit becomes apparent, which continues to cherry on the second glass. Also some dark chocolate on the mid palette and finish. It keeps improving with every glass. Outstanding performance from a middling vintage.

  • Stood up two weeks in advance. Two hour slow oxidation. A pale ruby core fading to a medium garnet outer edge. Aromatically this is all about pyrazines; there’s grilled green peppers, tomato leaf, a touch of mint, and black shoe polish. Despite the rather austere nose the palate offers up a riper, richer experience for the vintage. A superb showing.

  • Not everyone cups of tea I must say! Translucent, dark red colour, rather deep in appearance! Gorgeous aroma of sweet, nutty black fruits and occasionally a hint of leather, a little spicy and rather peppery. Smooth on the palate, a little dense and thick in texture! Lacking a bit of complexity, only pure, sweet nutty fruits. A beauty! My cup of tea.

  • ***Cedar, bell pepper, earth, graphite....Nothing else remains. This wine was always a very dry and romantic rendition of Bordeaux, but now that love has gone dry. Still really nice to taste and feel the time in the bottle...Hmmm..What was I doing in 1994?...The grunge of wine.

  • Tasted blind. Earthy, smokey, cellar funk, mushroom, a touch rustic also on the palate. Drink up.
