  • 14.4% alcohol. Still quite youthful but starting to show a bit of fade in its freshness. Dark red color. Pretty, somewhat reluctant nose of blackberry, earth, and spice. In the mouth, a slightly candied edge to the cherry fruit comes through, but predominantly it is blackberry fruit up front. There's good acidity and a pleasing earthy-mineral edge to it. Touch of heat on the finish. Solid wine, if lacking a bit of charm and purity. B+

  • Upon opening this was shut down hard, with a very shy nose and watery on the palate. Two hours in the decanter worked wonders - a nose of plum, candied strawberry, decaying leaves and touch of tarry meatiness. Still rather tight on the palate with earthy, slightly sappy red fruits, pine needle and a little rubarb. The powerful acids on the finish, along with a touch of tannin, tend to wash out the fruit. It would be interesting to revisit in another 3-4 years but unfortunately my last bottle.

  • Fizzy...blows off after an hour...with a few strange flavors. Nice faded blueberries, rhubarb, cola. Not overly expressive or complex. Nicely integrated.

  • Medium ruby in color. A nose of dark berry with bay leaf, dried herb aromas. Still quite tight on the palate with some bright cherry and strong earthy, grassy flavors. The finish is still very tannic. I last tried this wine a year ago when it was hard as a rock. It has softened a little but I worry that there is not enough fruit to sustain it. I recommend drinking over the next 1-2 years.

  • Offline for Alex and Adam at Zuppa (San Francisco, California USA): Black fruit, medium light body, good peppery spicy palate, but a bit watery and weak. Has good structure may get better with time.
