WS Offline: The Secret Dinner (Vancouver, BC): Huge nose, showing aromas of burnt match stick, petrol, rubber tires, sulfur, and lemon juice. More sulfur is evident on the palate, along with more lemon juice, petrol, red apples, tart green apple, and some steely notes. A touch of sweetness compliments the medium acidity. Long finish, ending with notes of lemon peel. Showing some nice aged Riesling characteristics on both the nose and palate, this has evolved nicely. I always enjoy the Tantalus Rieslings, and I consider them a nice buy at their price point. Good.

Light clear yellow/gold. Lot's of peach in the nose. There is just a little in the background that would say riesling. If I tasted it blind I may say Sauvignon Blanc. There was just a little bit of sweetness but it was balanced very nicely.

Lots of lemon on the nose with underlying "stoniness". Soft and plush on entering the mouth, lemon/lime and mineral flavours, then firms up crisply with medium-high level of acid. Medium length finish. Overall an enjoyable dry riesling.

A couple pts lower than the '04, but still a seriously good wine, crisp, good acidity, citrus, a hint of apple. A very food friendly wine especially seafood. Riesling should be a grape that BC will continue to improve on.
