Extremely good showing, my first bottle of these 2004 Gajas. Still extremely youthful, but generous nose, resplendent with red fruit, roses, violets, intensified over the course of the evening. Palate still youthfully crunchy, mostly cherry but a long tart engaging finish. With dinner (truffle gnocchi, classic Italian ragu, and some well seasoned flank steak) the tannins calmed down a lot and the wine was almost silky. Very good now, likely better in the future.

Dinner with the wine group (Sole Ristorante, San Mateo): Light ruby, slight bricking; high intensity aromatics, red cherry, roses, violets; palate is light bodied, high tannin, high acid, balanced alcohol (14%); long finish. This is a spectacular Barbaresco. 94-95

Very well developed fruit and wonderful richness overall. Really nothing to complain about. This last of our bottles was lovely and drinking very well.

Slow ox 1 1/2 hour. Medium brick red/black. Cherries, spice, tar, good balance and complexity. Long finish. So nice.

Super youthful. Gorgeous red and black fruit. Some tar. Just the right amount of tension and tannin.
