Perfect cork. Bought on release. Good colour for its age, pale lemon. First impression is deep tropical fruits, pineapple, lemon zest and incredible resonating finish, superb structure. Fruits are blended with lovely spice, which lingers on the very long finish. Very youthful, would have easily gone another decade, a great bottle.

While not classically premoxed this wine was advanced with a deeper yellow colour than previous identically stored bottles and a nose that while showing notes of white pear and nectarine showed plenty of honey and butterscotch that did not change over 30 minutes in the glass. The palate is quite rich but lacks the detail of previous bottles despite a lovely grip at the finish. Stored for many years at 12C this is another reminder of the vagaries of the conventional cork/glass combination.

La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Late night small pour. Starts out tropical, yet easily maintains great balance through fantastic structure and textures. Very charming.

Served blind. Rich, intense, complete - proper Montrachet.
