Elegant and balanced beyond reproach, it caused everyone to think of great old Burgundy experiences. As good as the '47 was when I last had it, this was that much better, a bottle I'd rank among the three or four greatest pinots I've tasted.

Pinot Noir and I feel fotunate to have experienced a few glasses tonight. With an amazing display of aromatical fireworks including cinnamon stick and tea leaves this certainly didn't show it's age. While it certainly didn't have a high fill on it's side, the wine still performed brilliantly. The old glass bottle said 4/5 Quart which I had never seen before. With some air the nose changed as fast as Superman. With an array of darker notes and some fruit still evident. What I most appreciated was the lack of leather and tar which I often find in some older Ca. pinot's. The nose was singing it's own song tonight and the palate weight and balance were the harmony. Beautifully balanced what really impressed us all was how with air instead of falling off a cliff, the wine actually improved dramatically taking on weight and charm. My final sip at the end of the night nearly 2 hours later still showed a wine with time on it's hands. Thank you Jonathan
