A "big guys wine", delicious at 8 years old. Probably will be at its peak until 10. Powerfull bouquet that "jumped" from the glass. Velvety tannins, prunes, figs and chocolate. All well mixed and balanced with 15º of alcohol in a full-bodied and creamy wine with an extra long finish.

I as a Greek cannot escape being favourably biased towards a Chilean wine that is not only named after the Greek word for Earth (thus emphasizing the fact that the grapes from which it is made are biodynamically farmed), but also features the Greek spelling of this word on the label. The wine comes in an ultra-heavy and gigantic 750 ml bottle that might pass for a magnum. I wonder why wine producers in Bordeaux or elsewhere do not need to pack their wines in such flamboyancy to declare their premium status. The question is rhetoric of course: If you are Lafite you need little more than declare just who you are. Now let's go to the wine itself: Very dark, almost black core with a ruby-garnet rim. Restrained but complex nose with loam, coffee, creme de cassis, ripe fig and black pepper. Full-bodied, creamy with ultra-silky tanins, obvious alcohol, rich fruit and high acidity that succeeds perfectly in balancing the body. Very long finish. Paradoxically, besides being big, this wine has the reserved and elegant character of a fine wine. At (or very close to) its peak. 92 without bias.
