  • From Magnum. This wine came around pretty quickly. Near jammy blackberries, figs and a touch of prune on the finish. Some tar, grilled meats and dusty tannins as well. A couple tablespoons of sediment. Very smooth but a significant density to this wine that still had a elegance to it.

  • Out of magnum. Last tasted 18 years ago. Rich concentrated fruit in the nose and flavor. Black currants, blackberries, leather, chocolate, licorice, and minerality in the nose. Dark rich fruit in the flavor, black currants, leather and chocolate. An elegant wine with nice complexity, full bodied, well balanced and a long silky finish.

  • Delicious balance of soft fruit & still present easy going tannins. Some silty residue. Fruit got sweeter & more present after the bottle was open an hour.

  • Decanted for 90 minutes. Medium garnet. Lovely nose of cassis, red currant, floral notes, leather, and earth tones. Elegant layers of red plum and currant fruit coursing effortlessly on the tongue with undercurrents of sweet tobacco. Moderate acidity and supple tannin. Long finish of echoing red and dark fruit with integrated earth. Beautiful showing.

  • An excellent bottle. Almost merits 94 points. Had my worries after drinking a 1999 recently that was good but underperformed expectations
Nose is beautiful pure black cherries
The palate is delicious blackberries and black cherries with nothing out of place. the finish is moderately long and just a bit spicy. A hint of tannin remains. Very enjoyable perfectly aged California cab.
It will not get better than this I think. We will drink our last bottle in the next few years
