Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 94.3 pts. and median of 94 pts. in 9 notes)

Tasted by KenK on 1/17/2010 & rated 97 points: Beautiful, sexy, heady wine. Dark meaty aromas that also feature concentrated ripe blackberry fruits and dark chocolate. Yum.
Rich ripe dense wall of dark red fruits dominate the palate with creamy cocoa edge. Nice brightness and depth with long sweet finish. Still very young, but oh so promising. Modern style wine with rich elegance. Should improve as fruit dominates, but this wine is irresistible even now. A wow wine with multiple dimensions. Parker nailed this one. (396 views)

Tasted by cct on 1/16/2009 & rated 94 points: Certainly baby killing, but mostly in the interest of science....

Dark opaque in color. Opened on night one: Black, impenetrable in color and palate, with the wood showing a bit strong. Very tannic and brawnily structured. Left open on the counter over two nights...
48 hours later: tons of dark berry fruits, minerals, anise, black cherries, dark meaty notes, and a fine florality really comes out with time. Very full bodied, but in far better balance than two nights before. Rich and structured, meaty and focused, with some fine provencal herbs peeking out behind the fruit, savory notes, and large scaled structure. A very fine palate presence, with more balance, and purity to the fruit and minerals than 2 days earlier. A really fine wine, that I will not touch again for 5 or more years. Bravo! (1810 views)

Tasted by Philippe_C on 11/30/2008 & rated 93 points: Nose of vanilla and a bit red fruit... with powerfull fruit in the mounth and integrated tannins (1972 views)
Tasted by tanglenet on 9/6/2008: Wine Club SF Châteauneuf-du-Pape (San Francisco): Served at a tasting at the Wine Club in SF. Quick notes: stinky nose of old vegetables; tight tannins with a very dry powdery finish. Fair. (2039 views)
Tasted by Siggy on 5/7/2007: 2007 France Trip - Opening Night, Mordoree, Rayas; 5/6/2007-5/7/2007 (Southern Rhone): Cask sample (not the final blend). Mordoree will not make a Plume de Peintre in 2006, as Christophe believes the character of the vintage favors blends, rather than a single vineyard expression. Dark fruits, cherry cola, ash/tobacco. Concentrated, with good acidity and freshness. Slightly herbal on the midpalate. Seems more about finesse than power and structure. Promising. (2462 views)

Producer website
Started in 1986 by the Delorme brothers, Domaine de la Mordoree (woodcock) has become one of the top estates in the Rhone, with arguably the most consistent quality. Christophe Delorme's objective as a winemaker is to be unintrusive and maintain total respect for his terroir and the fruit it produces, striving to achieve a perfect balance between concentration and terroir. The domaine consists of 55 Hectares, on 38 different parcels, providing a rich, wide range of soils and climates. They practice "culture raisonnée", with minimum intervention in the vineyards, and as close as possible organic viticulture.

About red wine
