Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 90.9 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 39 notes)

Tasted by Anonymous on 1/11/2010: A: Clear, pale to medium lemon
N: White flowers, white pepper, honey, ginger, hazelnut and lemon zest - keep getting different aromas every time I take a whiff!
P: Lemon is at the forefront of the palate, along with the white pepper and nutty notes. Acid - med/med +, Body - med +/full, pronouced flavor intensity and medium finish. A Real Humdinger that is coming along nicely. Drank from 375 ml (321 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 12/27/2009: Pale lemon (almost lemon green) color, no noticeable rim variation. Nose is pronouced and still developing with aromas of toast, bannana, lemon verbana, and honey suckle. Palate is medium acid, medium + in body with flavor notes in harmony with the taste. Finish is lengthy although still developing. (412 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 11/4/2009 & rated 92 points: 4BOW: 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape: Pale yellow color. Tropical fruit aromas. Tastes of lemon, melon and lime with a nice spiciness. Well balanced. Deeply complex with an elegant finish. 13.5% alcohol. (684 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 11/4/2009 & rated 91 points: started out a little too cold, but as it warmed, the wine displayed great freshness and a nice cornucopia of fruit. nice acid. (853 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 9/9/2009: Great with smoked scallops, truffles and cauliflower soup. Yes seriously. (1014 views)
Tasted by blaiseiii on 8/16/2009 & rated 89 points: Not as good as I remembered it.....maybe should hold some and try in a year or two. (1094 views)
Tasted by djdaqm on 8/1/2009 & rated 89 points: Used pharmaceutical and burnt plastic bouquet. On the palette notes of burnt sugar molasses but not sweet. Weaker than expected. Decent balance. Needs quite a bit of time. Score based on today's tasting not on potential (1202 views)
Tasted by chrisab14 on 7/21/2009: A bit dissapointed by this bottle, but it worked well with the Indian food. (1233 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 7/7/2009 & rated 93 points: fabulous (1272 views)
Tasted by BeavisCC on 5/10/2009 flawed bottle: Corked (1435 views)
Tasted by al-Zabba on 4/4/2009: Wet stone and a delicately fresh, calm nose like a cool moist breeze. Incredible palate of vanilla and roses and almost almond pastry (not talking sugar, but essence). Drinks like a red, honestly. If I was blindfolded, I might not be able to tell by the palate alone. (1542 views)
Tasted by pbaek on 3/27/2009: Ordered a 1/2 bottle at La Mere Germaine in Chateauneuf du Pape. I was surprised about the freshness and the verve here. Not heavy and cumbersome to drink as some white CdPs can be. The fruit is clear cut with exotic flavors like peach, honey melon and apricot. Good weight on the mid-palate, buttery. Hazelnuts sneaking in too. Great wine. Can live. (1634 views)
Tasted by wallnib on 2/9/2009 & rated 92 points: Tasty, Classy, Elegant. Great fruit quality while still maintaining its bone-dryness. A bit fuller body than the bottle we had several months ago. Mouthwatering stone-mineral action kept me coming back for my next sip, almost ignoring the mushroom risotto which paired beautifully. (1790 views)
Tasted by RockinCabs on 2/3/2009 & rated 91 points: Very nicefrom half bottle. Mamoth blackberry, bacon fat, cardamon, and cranberry nose. Really long on the palate with great fruit density that is balanced by a splash of acid. Great finish that lingers for 30+ seconds. (1154 views)
Tasted by markelln@bellsouth.net on 1/28/2009 & rated 93 points: French Bakery 2nd Chateauneuf de Papes BYO Dinner (The French Bakery, 1023 Kane Concourse, Bay Harbor Islands, FL): Jerry's wine. My 93. What an excellent CdP blanc should be, excellent fruit, straw, acidity and minerality. A delightful wine, that to me totally outclassed the La Bernardine Blanc. (1953 views)
 Tasted by cunni001 on 1/8/2009 & rated 90 points: (1443 views)
Tasted by cunni001 on 1/8/2009: Paris during a freezing January. Never opened up with the fruit, very mineral in tone with some yeast overtones, pineapple med body, nice finish when warmed, not too much acid. Pleasing as the evening grew on, but not much help against the cold. Great with both hard and soft goat and cow cheese from la compagne. (1742 views)
Tasted by jdunnuck on 1/4/2009 & rated 92 points: Chateauneuf du Pape - 2006: This bottle saw a long, multi hour decant and I'm not sure if this helped the aromatics or not since this was tight and slightly muted for the first night. While not much intensity, there was beautiful richness and depth with honeysuckle, almond butter and toasted bread notes and this did open up on the second day. The palate was medium to full bodied with a stunning, rich texture, nice balance and a long, mouth coating finish. A concentrated, serious blanc. (1841 views)
Tasted by Wine-Strategies on 1/4/2009 & rated 91 points: what Jeb said. Except that even during its multi-hour decant, this was never really that expressive. I did not get to taste it on day 2, which is a shame. It did show nice structure and had a weighty feel on the palate. (1427 views)
Tasted by Cunningham on 10/16/2008: 4/5 Stars (1850 views)
Tasted by jivey on 9/3/2008 & rated 91 points: Nice Mineral componets with a hint of lechee, citrus med bodied and a nice somewhat acidic finish. (1864 views)
Tasted by goofy Yno on 9/3/2008 & rated 93 points: Blind night- MY house (My house): pineapple, grapefruit nose. nice round mouth with good complexity and nice long finish. (1898 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 9/3/2008 & rated 90 points: double blind. seemed a little reserved in the fruit department, but i attribute that to it's age. strong wine, but not enough personality/complexity. i'd enjoy revisiting in 6-12 months. has potential. (1937 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 9/3/2008 & rated 92 points: 4BOW: Your Happy Wine (Mark's House): Pale yellow color. Rich nose of pineapple. Tastes of apples, caramel, pear and pineapple with a nice depth of fruit. Nice balance and acidity. Long powerful with good complexity. Brought by Mark. 13.5% alcohol. (1952 views)
